A large portion of the south elevation of the structure required a fire wall between the court house and the parking garage.  The design team decided to make the wall a bearing wall for the twin tee floor deck elements while it performed the fire wall requirement.  This structural innovation saved time and money by reducing the number of components necessary to serve two functions.
