The
two multi-level multi-bay structures are support facilities for
the new Merck Marketing Headquarters. The architects at Ballinger Co., introduced a slight curve
and architectural treatment to the south façade to give a unique
look to the two structures.
Ballinger's engineers used the 15' wide Mega-Tee and
interior lite walls to economize the two buildings.
All the concrete was cast with a .36 water cement ratio to
make it the most durable concrete in the Delaware Valley.
Pocketed spandrels were used to carry the twin tees, which
reduced the reinforcement in the beams and provided a visually pleasing
appearance at the perimeter.
The owner, architect/engineer, and construction manager worked together with High Concrete to furnish a facility on time and within budget while meeting all architectural, structural, and functional requirements.
