1969: Construction of our first parking garage at the corner of Duke and Chestnut Streets, Lancaster, PA |
|
In 1919, Kreider Kurtz began a block business in Ephrata, PA. During the Great Depression, flower pots and garden furniture were made of the first precast concrete. Kreider and his brother, John, expanded the business in the years to follow.
High Concrete Structures, Inc. (HCSI) was founded in 1956
as Kurtz Precast Corporation. 1968 marked the construction
of our first parking garage: the Duke Street Garage
in downtown Lancaster, PA. In 1977, The High Companies acquired
Kurtz Materials Corp., including Kurtz Precast Corp., predecessor
of our company.
HCSI designed
and erected an environmentally controlled sandblasting facility,
an industry first, in 1984. A few years later, in
1989, Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) gave
HCSI the award for excellence in Architectural and Engineering
Design using Precast Prestressed Concrete for the Woodland
Falls Corporate Park project.
High Concrete
Structures, Inc. became one of the founding members
of the re-instituted Mid-Atlantic Precast Association (MAPA)
in 1995. In 1997, our concrete tee production building
was constructed. 2002 marked a milestone for our company,
with the construction of our 300th parking garage.
In 2003, High Concrete became a founding member of AltusGroup™,
the first-ever national partnership of precast companies,
founded to develop, manufacture and market precast innovations
such as the breakthrough CarbonCast™
line of products.
High Concrete Structures purchased both of Concrete Technology
Inc.'s (CTI) plants in Paxton, IL and Springboro, OH and
formed the High Concrete Group in 2004. Find out more

Concrete Technology (previously CTI).
